A Milestone in Growth and Purpose

I’m truly excited to share an incredible achievement with you all…
This week, I had the honour of presenting at my very first Practice Week event at work, an event attended by over 200 professionals across the service. This was well beyond my comfort zone and without a doubt, my biggest presentation to date.
But as we all know, growth only happens when we’re willing to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
In the days leading up to the event, things didn’t go exactly as planned. In fact, just ten minutes before I was due to present, there were last-minute changes made to my presentation plan. You can imagine the thoughts racing through my mind at that point, but I reminded myself of why I was there: to make a difference.
Despite the challenges, the presentation went better than I could have anticipated. The feedback was phenomenal. One of the Heads of Service even told me it looked like I had done this a thousand times before, commending my confidence and delivery.
I feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to lead this presentation on Father’s Inclusive Practice, a topic that’s deeply important to me and crucial for building stronger, more connected services that recognise the vital role fathers play.
This experience reminded me of my favourite books called “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” by Susan Jeffers, because sometimes, the moments that scare us most are the ones that shape us the most.
To anyone reading this who’s standing on the edge of something new or daunting, remember this: fear is not the enemy, staying still is. So step forward and even when your heart is racing, growth, confidence, and purpose all live just beyond your comfort zone.
I will leave you with this final thought to consider, this was my fortune earlier this week!

“It’s funny how the universe has a way of sending reminders just when we need them most.“
